The Original Air-Pruning Fabric Pot for Healthier Roots
The Black Smart Pot is the original fabric growing container — trusted by gardeners and professional growers since 1984. Made in the USA from BPA- and lead-free performance fabric, Smart Pots are safe for growing vegetables, herbs, fruits, and cannabis. The breathable fabric walls air-prune roots as they reach the edge, preventing root circling and encouraging a dense, fibrous root system for stronger plant growth. Available in sizes from 5 to 200 gallons (plus a 100-gallon raised bed version), there is a Black Smart Pot for every application — from herbs on a patio to large cannabis plants and specimen trees.
Smart Pots provide excellent drainage by design — no extra holes are needed. The porous fabric also keeps the root zone cooler in summer heat compared to plastic containers. Pair your Smart Pot with a deck garden drip irrigation kit for automated, precise watering directly to the root zone.
