Commercial-Grade Adjustable Pressure Regulation for the Whole House
The Wilkins Adjustable Whole House Regulator is a heavy-duty, commercial-grade brass component designed to safeguard your entire property’s plumbing infrastructure. Installed directly on the main water line before it enters the house, this robust regulator takes harsh, fluctuating municipal or pump water pressure and steps it down to a safe, reliable level. By controlling the incoming pressure for your entire property, you protect indoor appliances, pipes, and your expansive outdoor irrigation valve manifolds from catastrophic pressure spikes and water hammer.
Unlike preset landscape regulators, this premium brass unit features a top-mounted adjustment bolt, allowing you to finely tune the outlet pressure anywhere from 15 to 150 PSI to match the exact needs of your property. Equipped with standard Male Pipe Threads (MPT) on both the inlet and outlet, it integrates securely into rigid PVC or copper mainlines. Additionally, the 1″ model (PRHOUSE1) is manufactured utilizing lead-free brass, strictly complying with California’s safe drinking water requirements for residential installations.
- Whole-Property Protection: Secures your indoor plumbing, water heaters, and outdoor irrigation mainlines from damaging, high municipal water pressure.
- Fully Adjustable: Features an easy-to-turn adjustment bolt that allows you to set the precise downstream pressure anywhere between 15 and 150 PSI.
- Constant Pressure Rated: Engineered specifically to be installed on a main water line where it will safely hold back static, continuous pressure 24/7.
- Heavy-Duty Brass: Manufactured by Wilkins from exceptionally durable cast brass to survive decades of continuous use without cracking or failing.
- Lead-Free Compliance: The 1″ model (PRHOUSE1) is specifically constructed from lead-free brass to meet strict California safe drinking water standards.

Install and adjust your brass whole-house regulator.
Step 1: Shut Off Main Water
Before beginning, you must locate your property’s main water shut-off valve (usually at the street meter) and completely turn off the water supply. Note: Professional installation by a licensed plumber is highly recommended for main water line plumbing.
Step 2: Prep the Threads
Apply 3 to 4 wraps of Teflon tape to the male pipe threads on both the inlet and outlet of the brass regulator to ensure a secure, watertight seal when threading it into your plumbing manifold.
Step 3: Plumb the Regulator
Thread the regulator securely into your main line. Crucial: Look closely at the brass body and ensure the directional flow arrow points downstream toward the house.
Step 4: Adjust the Pressure
Attach a pressure gauge downstream of the regulator. Turn the water supply back on. Loosen the locknut on top of the regulator, then turn the adjustment bolt clockwise to increase pressure, or counter-clockwise to decrease pressure, until your gauge reads the desired PSI. Retighten the locknut.
